„…because being close matters!”

The Order of Malta in Germany

More than one million members, agencies in more than 700 villages throughout the whole country, actively working at the service of humanity since 1953 – that is the Order of Malta in Germany.

The Catholic relief organisation is not only committed to disaster control and medical service but it also participates in volunteer social services and in hospice work. Simply everywhere, where you need help.

We are lucky to have so many people who have committed themselves to the service of humanity. Nobody likes to get into emergencies – therefore, it is even more important to have a helping hand nearby. Yet, the work of the helpers is often unacknowledged or sometimes even criticized.

Rescue forces in the focus

This was not at all the case during the Rheinland-Pfalz-Tag in Alzey last year! There, the rescue forces and their valuable work were acknowledged and praised in an appropriate way: From 3 June to 5 June, several relief organisations presented their work at the car park on Franken Street and gave the visitors an overview of their daily work. Of course, also the Order of Malta took part in it. They had prepared a comprehensive program for both old and young alike: a wheel of fortune and a Segway parkour invited the guests to participate actively in the program.

Ecotent® in action

Well protected from the weather underneath a printed pop up gazebo 3×3 m with panorama sidewalls, the members of the Order of Malta answered countless questions of curious visitors. Our Rondo counter served as information point and offered plenty of flyers and brochures. A Circle Flag complemented the presentation and attracted the people from afar.

However, not only the foldable and mobile information booth of the Order of Malta attracted everyone – it was also the “heartbreakers” on four paws: The therapy and rescue dogs enjoyed being petted by all participants on this warm summer weekend – and not even the prime minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Ms Malu Dreyer (SPD) could resist them…
